Lance Larsen to speak on creativity at BYU forum May 22

Lance Larsen, a professor of English at Brigham Young University, will speak on "Coaxing the Muse: Thoughts on the Creative Process" at a forum assemblyTuesday, May 22, at 11:05 a.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Larsen is the author of two poetry collections, "Erasable Wall" and "In All Their Animal Brilliance," which have won several awards. He also occasionally publishes essays, including one that was designated as a notable essay in "Best American Essays 2005."

He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in English from BYU and his doctorate in literature and creative writing from the University of Houston.

In addition to teaching courses in poetry, creative writing, the short story and American literature, Larsen also serves as associate chair of the English Department and as the poetry editor of the BYU journal "Literature and Belief." He has taught at BYU since 1993.
