Kif Augustine-Adams new associate dean at J. Reuben Clark Law School

Dean Kevin Worthen of Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School has announced the appointment of Kif Augustine-Adams, the Charles E. Jones Professor of Law at the school, as the new associate dean for research and academic affairs. She replaces James R. Rasband, who was recently named associate academic vice president for faculty at BYU.

“I appreciate the dedicated service that Jim Rasband has provided to the law school,” Worthen said. “I also welcome Kif Augustine-Adams and the strength that she brings to the appointment. I am grateful for her willingness to serve.”

The primary responsibilities Augustine-Adams will assume include faculty scholarship, student academic matters and co-curricular organizations.

Augustine-Adams received her juris doctorate from Harvard Law School in 1992. She practiced law with the law firm of Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C. before joining the faculty at the J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1995. She is currently a visiting professor at Boston College Law School and will return to the BYU campus for fall semester 2008.

Her principal research interests include citizenship, immigration and gender issues. Her work, published in both English and Spanish, has appeared in Gender & History, Harvard Women's Law Journal, Journal of Law and Religion, Stanford Journal of International Law, UC Davis Law Review and Virginia Journal of International Law.
