KBYU-TV will air "The Bright Morning Star" Dec. 17, 24

KBYU-TV (Channel 11) will present "The Bright Morning Star: Celebration of Christmas 2002" on Tuesday (Dec. 17) at 9 p.m. This special holiday concert features the combined choirs and Philharmonic Orchestra at Brigham Young University.

A variety of holiday favorites as well as lesser-known pieces will be included in the performance. The Women's Chorus will sing the African-American spiritual "Mary's Little Boy Child," and the Men's Chorus will offer renditions of "Welcome, Yule" and "Nowel," a variation of "The First Noel."

The Concert Choir will perform the Latin piece "Estampie Natalis" and the University Singers will sing "Follow the Star" and "Isseh, Isseh," an African carol. The Philharmonic Orchestra will play "Joy to the World" and "The Holly and the Ivy."

Finally, all the groups will combine to perform "Sing We Now at Christmas" and Mendelssohn's "A Star Shall Rise Up Out of Jacob."

"The Bright Morning Star" will also air on KBYU-TV on Dec. 24 at 7 p.m. The BYU-Television satellite network will also be airing the program Dec. 16 at 9 p.m. and Dec. 22 at 8 p.m. (both MST).
