Joseph McConkie to address BYU devotional Dec. 12

Joseph F. McConkie, professor of ancient scripture, will deliver a devotional titled "Finding Answers" on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center at Brigham Young University.

His topic addresses the role of the Holy Ghost and the idea of finding a balance between listening for revelation and learning independently as one makes choices. He also discusses the differences between the light of Christ and the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The devotional will be broadcast live on KBYU-TV (Channel 11), BYU-Television, KBYU-FM (89.1), BYU-Radio and byubroadcasting.org, as well as on campus in the Joseph Smith Building auditorium.

McConkie completed his master's and doctoral degrees at BYU in LDS Church History and in Educational Administration, respectively. He grew up in Salt Lake City and served his mission in Scotland, also serving as an LDS chaplain for three years, one of which was spent in Vietnam. He and his wife, Brenda, are the parents of eight children.
