Jazz Ensemble free concert focuses on jazz classics

The School of Music will present Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Mark Ammons Wednesday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The Jazz Ensemble's "Groovin' Hard" concert will have audience members humming some of their favorite tunes, including "I've Got the World on a String," "Send in the Clowns," "My Man Bill" and "I Get a Kick Out of You."

Members of the Jazz Ensemble include Chris Black, Ike Christensen, Blake Wilkins, Rob Bennion, Conrad Allen, Kyle Miller, Keith Evans, Courtney Hohl, Traci Durland, Michael Harris, Sterling Peterson, Travis King, Paul Hannibal, Jacob Jones, Jeremy Bowen, Daniel Smith and Andrew Merrell.

The Jazz Ensemble helps train up-and-coming jazz musicians, said Ammons. "The ensemble provides the necessary training to help serious jazz performers to enhance their talent."
