Jaren Hinckley to present BYU faculty clarinet recital Nov. 10

Brigham Young University School of Music faculty artist Jaren Hinckley will present a clarinet recital Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.

Assisted by Jayne Galloway on piano and Ruth Monson on violin, Hinckley will perform a variety of selections by such composers as George Gershwin, Maurice Ravel, Peter Schickele and Phillip Bimstein.

Hinckley received his doctorate in music in clarinet performance from Florida State University. He has performed with the Utah Symphony, the Canyonlands New Music Ensemble and the Manhattan School of Music Philharmonia. He has also recorded two CDs with the Canyonlands New Music Ensemble and the Utah Composers Ensemble, which are chamber groups dedicated to the advancement of new music.

Through his involvement with these groups and others, he has performed the world premieres of many solo and chamber works.

BYU planetary geology professor Jani Radebaugh’s contributions to planetary science have reached cosmic proportions as she recently received the prestigious honor of having a minor planet named her. The asteroid, previously known as “45690,” now bears the name “45690janiradebaugh” on official NASA/JPL websites.
