Italians in America topic for David M. Kennedy Center lecture Sept. 12

"Italian Pioneers: From the Gold Rush to Today" will be the topic of a Global Awareness Lecture on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building at Brigham Young Univesity.

Alessandro Trojani, a specialist in oral history and digital data processing technologies in the humanities, will present the lecture.

Trojani is a professor of multimedia computer science and e-learning at the University of Florence in both the Information Science Department and the Political Science Department. He also teaches U.S. history.

Since 2003, he has been the director of the project, "Italians in the Gold Rush and Beyond" (http://www.igrb.net), co-financed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Rome), the Consulate of Italy (Los Angeles and San Francisco), the University of Florence, and U.S. universities, including collaboration with California State University at San Bernardino for GIS projects.
