Internship opportunities in the Scottish Parliament

BYU's Center for the Study of Europe is seeking students to intern with members of the Scottish Parliament during winter semester 2005.

Interns will work as researchers and personal assistants to representatives in the Scottish Parliament.

Students will live in Edinburgh, Scotland for the length of their internship. Internships are also available with Scottish Parliament members in Westminster, London and Brussels.

Once selected, interns are paired with a parliamentarian who is focusing on issues that match the student's interests and academic background when possible.

Assignments vary from preparing legislation to researching information for debates.

Students experience firsthand how the Scottish government works by attending party conventions and committee meetings.

Previous interns have worked on such projects as family history and speech writing. Academic credit is available.

The cost of this semester program is approximately $4,400-5,000. This includes BYU tuition, air fare, housing and meals. The cost for Spring and Summer terms is slightly lower.

Applications for Winter semester must be submitted by Oct. 1, 2004 online at http://kennedy.byu.edu/isp/internscotland.html.

For more information, please contact Cindy Otis, qtgr192@hotmail.com. Information on this internship, as well as other international internship opportunities, may also be found on the CSE website, http://europe.byu.edu.
