International social media topic for Foreign Service officer March 22 at BYU

U.S. Foreign Service Officer Andrew Crosson will discuss "Diplomacy 2.0—Why Social Media Matters" during a David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies lecture  Thursday, March 22, at 4 p.m. in 238 Herald R. Clark Building at Brigham Young University.
 
Crosson is a consular officer in the U.S. Foreign Service currently serving his first overseas tour at the U.S. Consulate General in Matamoros, Mexico. Before joining the Foreign Service, Crosson graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., with a bachelor's degree in Spanish language and literature and double minors in English and world languages and cultures.

He has been supervising a BYU student as a virtual intern for the past several months, among many other responsibilities in Matamoros. His next overseas assignment will be at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, where he will serve two consecutive, one-year assignments, first as a consular officer and then as a political officer.
