HduO clarinet-piano duo to perform at BYU Oct. 1

HduO, a musical duo comprised of Brigham Young University faculty member Jaren Hinckley, clarinet, and Vince Humphries, piano will present an eclectic selection of compositions by living composers in a recital Friday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center.

Admission is free.

Compositions to be performed include a set of pieces by James Balentine influenced by Scottish folk dances, a haunting and moody Polish piece for unaccompanied clarinet titled "Lightshadow-trembling," two highly programmatic movements for e-flat clarinet and piano composed by Hinckley, and a few other pieces by Horovitz, Bolling and DiNovi that are all classical but highly influenced by jazz.

"There's something for everyone in this varied and entertaining program," said Hinckley.

Both Hinckley and Humphries are featured in "The Gardens of Japan" on the new Tantara Records instrumental sampler, "Escape to a Place of Peace and Calm," which includes 14 classical selections. They will be releasing their own Tantara CD as HduO in the near future.

For more information, contact Jaren Hinckley at (801) 422-6339.
