"Haunted Houses" theme of address by BYU humanities professor Oct. 27

Carl Sederholm, assistant professor of humanities at Brigham Young University, will lecture on “Haunted Houses” Thursday, Oct. 27, at 5 p.m. in the Harold B. Lee Library Auditorium.

Sederholm’s lecture will explore the haunted house theme in American horror literature throughout the past several decades. He will explain how different authors use horror themes and examine why the popular haunted house stories interest authors.

He is particularly interested in late 18th and early 19th century American literature and culture, as well as gothic America, and he is co-writing a research project about American horror literature.

Sederholm received his doctoral degree in American studies from the University of Utah, and he has taught in the BYU Humanities Department for three years.
