"Harps in Motion" concert at BYU March 5

The Brigham Young University Harp Ensemble under the direction of ShruDeLi Ownbey and Dancensemble directed by Pat Debenham will present Harps in Motion, a theatrical experience fusing dancers and harpists with Latin rhythms.

Harps in Motion will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (March 5) in the de Jong Concert Hall. Tickets at $9 for the general public ($3 off with a BYU or student ID) are available at the Fine Arts Ticket Office, (801) 378-4322 or www.byu.edu/hfac.

Harps in Motion will feature selections from Suite of Eight Dances by Carlos Salzedo, Siciliana by O. Respighi and Mambo, Rumba and Samba by Bernard Andres.

BYU engineers, Toyota partner to create ‘new standard in automotive manufacturing’

A new welding technique developed by BYU and Toyota for the Sienna’s sliding doors uses 40 times less energy, emits fewer emissions, and produces welds that are 10 times stronger. This new process, called refill friction stir spot welding, could prove critical as Toyota and other car manufacturers rely more and more on lighter aluminum parts.
