Guest artists to present free woodwind recital at BYU Oct. 16

Guest artists Rebecca Henderson and Frank Morelli will be performing at Brigham Young University’s Madsen Recital Hall Friday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

This will be a joint recital featuring works by Handel, Saint-Saens, Paladilhe, Rossini, Pinkston and Lalliet. Some BYU School of Music faculty members will be assisting, including Jeffrey Shumway and Scott Holden on piano, Larry Blackburn on harpsichord and Christian Smith on bassoon.

Henderson is a teacher of oboe performance at the University of Texas-Austin and a former oboist with the National Symphony Orchestra. She holds degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory and the Eastman School of Music, where she was also awarded the distinguished “Performer’s Certificate.”

Morelli has performed bassoon with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and New York City Opera. He has a bachelor’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a master’s degree and doctorate from The Juilliard School. He has been a faculty member at Juilliard since 1992.
