Free prepress seminar available for print designers Oct. 17-18

Campus print designers and editors are invited to a free BYU Print and Mail Services Prepress Seminar Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 17 and 18, at the University Press Building, located across the street from the Harman Continuing Education Building and BYU Conference Center.

Sessions are available at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. both days. Seating is limited, so those interested are invited to register for a specific time at http://printandmail.byu.edu/signup.

“BYU Print and Mail Services prints all types of jobs from many departments on campus,” said Paul Snyder, who is organizing the seminar. “Many of the files that are received come from student designers, and those files often need to be fixed or tweaked. As a result, we have had a few department heads request that we hold a prepress seminar showing how files should be properly prepared and submitted.”

“Those who attend will learn from our experts how to make certain their files are ready for print and avoid costly re-works,” he said.

Topics to be covered include RGB vs. CMYK, resolution of images, CMYK or spot color, proper bleeds, embedding fonts and more.

For more information, contact Paul Snyder at paul_snyder@byu.edu or ext. 2-5541.
