Father Ferenc Patsch to speak at BYU April 4

Associate professor at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome

Father Ferenc Patsch, an associate professor at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, will speak at Brigham Young University in a lecture hosted by the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies Thursday, April 4, at 3 p.m. in 2107 Jesse Knight Building.

His lecture, titled “Interreligious Dialogue: A Roman Catholic and Eastern European Perspective,” is opened to the public. Admission is free.

Patsch’s research interests encompass philosophical hermeneutics (Heidegger, Gadamer), theological hermeneutics (contextual theologies), theology of religions (Rahner), missiology and interreligious dialogue, ignatian spirituality and psychology.

He was ordained to the Catholic priesthood in 1994. His previous affiliations include the Hekima College in Nairobi, the Faludi Academy in Budapest, the Catholic University of Budapest, the Theological College of Bratislava in Slovakia and the Sapientia College of Theology in Budapest.

Patsch received a master’s degree in theology from the University of Budapest (1994) and a doctorate in philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University (1996).

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
