"Fallin' in Love" at popular BYU Music/Dance/Theatre Showcase Feb. 9-10

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents its Music/Dance /Theatre Showcase, “Fallin’ in Love,” featuring Broadway favorites Thursday and Friday, Feb. 9-10, at 7 and 9 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The student-directed and student-produced program will present Broadway favorites and musical classics all about falling in love, including “Fools Fall in Love” from “Smokey Joe’s Café.”

Directed by Michelle Boothe with student assistants Amy Shreeve and Annalece Boothe, the showcase will feature “Sue Me” from “Guys and Dolls,” “Do You Love Me?” from “Fiddler on the Roof” and “The Song That Goes Like This” from “Monty Python’s Spamalot.”

“All of the students are able to show their best and do what they love the most in this showcase,” said faculty advisor Gayle Lockwood. “Seeing the student-choreographed pieces is energizing and fun.”

In addition to musicals, dance numbers and monologues from famous scripts will be performed. Proceeds from the performance will support BYU's Music/Dance/Theatre Scholarship Fund.

Advised by faculty members Lockwood and Lisa Stoddard, the showcase cast includes Logan Wilkes, Debra Weed, Mimi Adams, Melinda Lockwood, Johnny Hebda, Rochelle Oldham, Ben Tichy, Jana Peterson, Emily Moffat, Gail Bennett, Kevin Jordan, Shayla Osborne, Cardin Mckinney, Jessica Woahn, Carolyn Hartvigsen, Laurel Sandberg, Julie Mack, Katie Cornwall, Kara Jones, Cy Wood and Trisha Pollard.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
