Facilities Management chair wins distinguished educator award

Jeffery Campbell, chair of the BYU Facilities Management program, will be awarded the International Facility Management Association's distinguished educator of the year award Oct. 21 at the annual World Workplace Convention in Dallas.

"Receiving this award is such an honor," Campbell said. "But what makes the whole convention great is to be able to be there with BYU students as they receive awards."

Twenty BYU students accompanied Campbell to Dallas -- one of which, Anne Moser, received a $1,000 scholarship Oct. 19 at the conference for her academic performance.

The convention allows students and professionals to gather from all over the nation to network with fellow colleges and learn cutting-edge tactics in the field of facilities management.

Campbell, who has helped BYU's Facilities Management program become one of the most recognized in the nation, is influential in the field.

Specificlly, Campell is an author and speaker for national associations like the Association of Education Facilities Officers, the Association of Builders and Contractors, the Association of General Contractors, the International Facilities Management Association and the National Association of Home Builders. He has also served on the National Academies of Science, the Committee on Business Strategies for Public Capital Investment for the federal government and recently was appointed chairman of the academic accreditation committee for the International Facilities Management Association.
