"Evening of Boleros" presented by BYU Spanish and Portuguese Department Nov. 17

Brigham Young University’s Spanish and Portuguese Department will present an evening of song with “Noche de Boleros (Night of Boleros)” Thursday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Joseph Smith Building Auditorium.

Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.

The event, celebrating the third anniversary of the Institute of Vallejianos Studies at BYU, will feature students and groups performing bolero music, which is usually romantic and accompanied by guitar.

Performers will include Alma Ferrón, Ringo Delgado and his trio, Víctor López, Lilian Aguayo, Rebeca López, Leda Ríos and The Bolero Kings.

The Institute of Vallejianos Studies at BYU is the Utah chapter of the Peruvian organization of the same name. Its main objective is to promote the works of Peruvian poet César Vallejo as well as other writers.

BYU’s space ace: Minor planet named in honor of Jani Radebaugh

BYU planetary geology professor Jani Radebaugh’s contributions to planetary science have reached cosmic proportions as she recently received the prestigious honor of having a minor planet named her. The asteroid, previously known as “45690,” now bears the name “45690janiradebaugh” on official NASA/JPL websites.
