Eric Hansen to give BYU faculty recital Oct. 30

Brigham Young University School of Music faculty member Eric Hansen will perform a free concert Saturday, Oct. 30, at 1:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Hansen, an associate professor teaching double bass, will be performing works by Saint-Saens, Sang Tong, Bach, Ungar, G. Bottesini and Piazzolla.

The director of BYU’s Symphony Orchestra, Hansen is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland-College Park. Professionally, he has been principal bass for the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Musik Barock Ensemble, the Talbot Chamber Orchestra, the Great Music West Festival Orchestra and the National Chamber Orchestra in Washington D.C.

He performs part time with the Utah Symphony, Ballet West and with L.A. East Studios doing film and television recordings.
