Emotion-focused therapy topic for BYU Counseling Workshop March 8-9

The Brigham Young University 2012 Counseling Workshop, “The Transforming Power of Emotion” with Leslie Greenberg, will take place Thursday and Friday, March 8-9, at the BYU Conference Center, 770 E. University Parkway.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. Thursday and the first workshop session will begin at 8:30 a.m. Sessions will continue with the last one beginning at 3:20 p.m.Thursday. Friday begins with registration at 8 a.m. and the last session will start at 10:20 a.m.

Credit registration and non-credit registration is $245 and $225 respectively. For graduate students it costs $120 for credit and $90 non-credit. Register online at ce.byu.edu/cw/counseling/, by phone at 877-221-6716 or in person at the Harman Continuing Education Building, 770 E. University Parkway, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Plenty of free parking is available near the Conference Center.

Leslie Greenberg is known in psychology circles throughout the world as one of the primary developers of emotion-focused therapy (EFT). He’s “the last big innovator” in psychotherapy, says Lars Nielsen of the BYU Counseling and Career Center. In addition, “He looks amazingly like Santa Claus. He’s somebody you’d like to be in psychotherapy with.”

Now retired from York University in Toronto where he was professor of psychology and director of the Psychotherapy Research Center, Greenberg spends his time training psychotherapists and counselors around the world in emotion-focused therapy.
