Elder Porter to speak on the power of the Nativity at BYU Dec. 9

Elder Bruce. D. Porter, member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will give a Brigham Young University devotional address titled "A Child is Born" Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center.

Explaining the circumstances during the advent of the Savior, Elder Porter will discuss details not commonly known of the Nativity story while sharing a witness of Christ's influence in his life.

A former executive director of the U.S. Board for International Broadcasting and a former research fellow at Harvard University, Porter was a political science professor at BYU before accepting his call to the the Second Quorum of the Seventy in April 1995. He was called into the First Quorum of the Seventy in April 2003.

BYU planetary geology professor Jani Radebaugh’s contributions to planetary science have reached cosmic proportions as she recently received the prestigious honor of having a minor planet named her. The asteroid, previously known as “45690,” now bears the name “45690janiradebaugh” on official NASA/JPL websites.
