Elder Charles Didier at BYU devotional Oct. 29

Elder Charles Didier of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will address the Brigham Young University community during a devotional Tuesday (Oct. 29) at 11:05 in the Marriott Center.

The devotional will be broadcast live on KBYU-TV (Channel 11), the BYU-Television and BYU-Radio satellite networks and at broadcasting.byu.edu. It will be rebroadcast Sunday (Nov. 3) at 6 a.m. on KBYU-TV, on BYU-Television at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., and on KBYU-FM at 8 p.m.

Born in Ixelles, Belgium, Elder Didier joined the church in 1957. He has served as a General Authority of the church since 1975 and is currently in the presidency of the First Quorum of the Seventy.

Prior to his call as a General Authority, Elder Didier was employed by the Church as European manager for translation and distribution in Frankfurt, Germany. He speaks several languages, including German, French and English.

Origami-inspired space tech: BYU mechanical engineers create deployable systems for NASA and U.S. Air Force

BYU’s Compliant Mechanisms Research lab, inspired by the ancient art of origami, is building a foldable, compact design that could help launch satellite systems to space in a rocket. After five years of research, a team led by professors Larry Howell and Spencer Magleby has succeeded in creating foldable antenna systems than can deploy off space rockets and permanently open to enhance satellite systems.
