Edward Blaser of Performing Arts Management to present BYU devotional May 9

Edward Blaser, director of Performing Arts Management at Brigham Young University, will speak Tuesday, May 9, at 11 a.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall for a campus devotional.

Live broadcasts will be available on KBYU-TV (Channel 11), BYU-Television, KBYU-FM (89.1), BYU-Radio and byubroadcasting.org. Rebroadcast information is available at byubroadcasting.org.

With the title, "The World is Our Stage," Blaser will discuss how BYU performing groups have traveled the world since the 1950s and opened doors through their testimonies in music, song and dance.

A graduate of BYU with bachelor's and master's degrees in mass communication, Blaser has managed BYU performing group tours to 100 countries since 1976. He traveled to the People's Republic of China in early 1979 to arrange the first BYU performing group tour to that country.

Since that time, Performing Arts Management has arranged for 23 group tours to China, establishing BYU as one of the best-known American universities in the country.

Blaser also managed performing arts groups during the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City where BYU groups entertained audiences from around the world, including the estimated 3 billion people who watched the opening ceremonies.

For more information, contact Edward Blaser at (801) 422-3573.
