E. J. Caffaro to present BYU devotional address June 24

E. J. Caffaro, director of Brigham Young University’s Student Athlete Academic Center, will present a campus devotional on Tuesday, June 24, at 11:05 a.m. in the Joseph Smith Building auditorium.

The devotional will be presented live on BYU Television, KBYU TV, KBYU FM and byubroadcasting.org. For rebroadcast information, visit byubroadcasting.org. It will also be broadcast live to the following locations: W112 Benson Building, 250 Kimball Tower and the Varsity Theater.

As director of the Student Athlete Academic Center, Caffaro provides support and resources for student athletes to be successful in their academic, athletic, personal and career pursuits. He also serves as an athletic liaison on several campus committees.

Prior to joining BYU, Caffaro was the assistant football coach and offensive coordinator and an assistant basketball coach at Ricks College, now BYU-Idaho. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he also taught college algebra courses at Ricks College and at BYU. Before Ricks, Caffaro was the defensive coordinator for the Snow College football team and worked for Thomson McKinnon Securities on Wall Street.

Caffaro earned his master’s degree in physical education from Idaho State University and his bachelor’s degree, also in physical education, from BYU.

Making fashion out of art: Students hit the runway with designs inspired by BYU Museum of Art exhibit

BYU students recently showcased fashion and makeup designs in a runway show at the Museum of Art. They each designed and modeled a look inspired by one of the paintings on exhibit from an art museum in Puerto Rico. On display until Jan. 3, The Sense of Beauty: Six Centuries of Painting from Museo de Arte de Ponce showcases world-class art that reflects the innate beauty of the human experience.

The team of BYU engineers placed 86 Bluetooth devices throughout a 50-hectare field near Elberta, Utah, to measure water levels across every inch of the field. Placing this many sensors in a commercial field is unprecedented and allows researchers to see unique patterns that have never before been captured.
