Dementia subject at BYU annual Gerontology Conference March 14

Brigham Young University will host the 21st Annual Russell B. Clark Gerontology Conference, Monday, March 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the BYU Conference Center. This year’s theme is “Generations Working Together.”

The conference is free of charge, and no registration is necessary. Lunch will be provided, and there is plenty of free parking adjacent to the Conference Center.

Byron Bair of the University of Utah School of Nursing, and Tom Finucane of Johns Hopkins University are the keynote speakers for the conference and will be speaking on “Nonpharmacological Interventions for Dementia” and “Drugs for Dementia: Good Marketing, Little Meaning,” respectively.

Other presenters will include Robin McKenzie, John Kane, Barbara Hurst, Jane MacPherson and Julianne Holt-Lunstad, who are all medical doctors or professors who are experts in their fields.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
