Cougarettes plan Covey Center concerts Feb. 18-20

Brigham Young University’s Cougarettes will present their annual concert Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 18-20, at 7:30 p.m., at the Covey Center for the Arts. A matinee performance will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Covey Center Ticket Office at 425 W. Center Street in Provo, online at coveycenter.org or by calling (801) 852-7007.

This year’s production will showcase several genres of dance including jazz, hip-hop, character and contemporary. The Cougarettes will perform pieces choreographed by some of today’s most renowned choreographers including Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo.

Organized in 1946, the Cougarettes are now a part of BYU Athletics and have become a part of the newly organized Spirit Squad consisting of the Cheer Squad, Cosmo and the Cougarettes.

“They continue to be some of the most proficient dancers on campus and will continue to pursue that expectation as they prepare for their concert and as they make appearances at athletic events,” said Jodi Maxfield, artistic director of the Cougarettes.

The Cougarettes have been recognized as one of the top collegiate dance teams in the nation and have won seven college dance team national titles.
