Cougar Marching Band in concert Nov. 9

Brigham Young University will showcase the magnificent musicians, powerful percussion and sensational sounds of the “Power of the Wasatch,” the Brigham Young University Cougar Marching Band, but this time in the de Jong Concert Hall.

The band will be performing in concert Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are available through the Fine Arts Ticket Office, (801) 422-4322, or at byuarts.com.

The group, consisting of 225 musicians in blue and white, usually perform on the field at LaVell Edwards Stadium. They have been performing for more than a century, first taking the field in 1908 under the direction of Robert Sauer.

Today, under the baton of Fred McInnis, the band has become one of the defining characteristics of BYU football home games. They have toured across the nation performing in the Fiesta Bowl, the Tangerine Bowl, seven Holiday Bowls, the All-American Bowl, the Cotton Bowl and many others.

BYU landscaping students dig their way to 10th national championship

BYU’s landscaping team is the best in the field, literally. While most national championships are won on the court or the gridiron, this one was claimed with pruned shrubs, expertly placed pavers, and top-tier irrigation systems.
