CORRECTION: April and Chris Clayton to perform flute-voice recital at BYU May 13 at 3:30 p.m.

Brigham Young University School of Music faculty flautist April Clayton, and her brother, baritone Chris Clayton, will present a combined recital Saturday, May 13, at 3:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission is free, and the public is welcome.

With Jeffrey Shumway on piano, April Clayton will perform the “Flute Sonata” by Francis Poulenc. Chris Clayton will perform “Tre Sonetti Di Petrarca” by Franz Liszt and “Another Reason Why I Don’t Keep a Gun in the House” by Tom Cipullo. Together, the siblings will perform “Three Irish Folksong Settings” by John Corigliano.

April Clayton, an assistant professor in the School of Music, attended Oberlin College as a National Merit Scholar and completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. At age 21, she was the youngest student ever admitted to the doctoral program at the Juilliard School, where she received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in May 2001.

Chris Clayton studied voice at the Manhattan School of Music and has performed several leading roles in operas throughout the New York area. He completed his undergraduate study at the University of Utah and is an apprentice artist in the Chautauqua Opera Young Artists Program.
