BYUSA seeks to honor campus heroes

The Brigham Young University Student Association is accepting nominations for the 2006 Brigham Awards, an honor that recognizes outstanding examples of service and Christlike actions.

Nominations can be submitted to brighamawards.byu.edu and will be accepted Feb. 13-24. More than 250 nominations have been received in past years.

“Brigham Awards are important to our campus because they honor people who are charitable and maybe aren’t recognized as much as they should be,” said Sarah Holstine, chair of the award’s committee.

The award recognizes five members of the BYU community. Recipients will be honored at BYUSA’s annual Unforum on April 18 and receive statuettes of Brigham Young from President Cecil O. Samuelson at an awards luncheon.

“We are always pleased to realize how many normal people are touching the lives of the members of our community,” said Chris Giovarelli, BYUSA spokesperson. “Brigham Awards let us recognize a few of them and, at the same time, tell all the countless heroes that we know and appreciate you.”
