BYU's popular Family Expo scheduled for April 7-8

Experts in all aspects of marriage and the family, parenting skills and Gospel-centered home life will give presentations during the Family Expo Monday and Tuesday, April 7 and 8, at Brigham Young University.

"The Church (of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) has declared this year as the year of the family," said Robert Holcombe, program administrator for BYU Conferences and Workshops. "The theme of the conference, 'Teach Me All That I Must Do to Live With Him Someday,' will help people know how to develop a Gospel-centered home."

The conference is $60 for single registration, $95 for couple registration and $150 for credit registration. Tuition benefits are available for fulltime BYU employees and their spouses. To register, please call (801) 378-8925 or visit http://familyexpo.byu.edu.

All lectures will take place at the BYU Conference Center located at 770 E. University Parkway northeast of the Marriott Center.

The two keynote speakers are Elder Ben B. Banks and Lloyd D. Newell. Elder Banks, a former member of the Seventy of the Church of Jesus Christ, will speak about parenting with principles of agency and accountability. Newell, an internationally known speaker and author, will discuss family traditions.

Other speakers include John Bytheway, assistant to the president of Deseret Book, who will speak about Family Home Evening, and Alan J. Hawkins, a professor in the School of Family Life at BYU, who will discuss strengthening marriages in neighborhoods, communities and states.

"The conference has been running since 1994 and has been called one of the best-kept secrets in the Church because it gives people an opportunity to hear prominent speakers in a smaller setting," Holcombe said.
