BYU's Orpheus Winds faculty quintet plans March 10 concert

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents Orpheus Wind Quintet on Wednesday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The performance is free and the public is welcome to attend.

The program will include Wind Quintet No. 1 in E-flat major by Peter Müller, the Woodwind Quintet No. 2 by Dan Welcher and “Roaring Fork” by Eric Ewazen.

The quintet includes April Clayton on flute, David Randall on clarinet, Laurence Lowe on horn, Geralyn Giovannetti on oboe and Christian Smith on bassoon.

At Rock Canyon Trailhead in Provo, Utah, BYU researchers are fighting fires with flowers. By replacing a problematic weed called cheatgrass with wildflowers, students and faculty are working to protect and restore one of Provo’s most popular hiking spots.

He has particular expertise in the planning, design, construction and operation of public water systems. That expertise has been increasingly important (and regularly sought out) in the wake of apocalyptic wildfires that have taxed those public water systems.
