BYU's Music/Dance Theatre program to present showcase Feb. 17-18

Brigham Young University’s Music/Dance/Theatre program will present its annual showcase featuring classic and contemporary stage songs on Friday, Feb. 17, and Saturday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pardoe Theatre. A matinee performance will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m.

Tickets at $6 to $10 each are available online at byuarts.com, by phone at (801) 422-4322 or at the Fine Arts Ticket Office in C-358 Harris Fine Arts Center. All proceeds from this event support the MDT scholarship program.

The program will feature selections from A Chorus Line, Les Miserables, Evita, Fosse, Kiss Me Kate, The Music Man and Hairspray.

The nationally recognized MDT program at BYU is an interdisciplinary, limited-enrollment professional training program designed to prepare young performers for careers in musical theatre. It seeks to foster musical theatre artists of the highest caliber. Students are educated in a broad-based liberal arts environment, trained to be professionally competitive and personally committed to the principles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
