BYU's Lee Library site of eResearch symposium Oct. 2-3

The Harold B. Lee Library and the Biology Department at Brigham Young University are co-hosting a symposium on eResearch and Data Management Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 2-3.

The symposium is intended for anyone interested in eResearch, research data management and scholarly reading behavior. It is open to the public, particularly to academic library staff from across the state of Utah. Admission is free.

The symposium will start Wednesday with an opening session at 9:30 a.m. with Carol Tenopir, who will lecture on “Scholarly Reading in a Digital Age: Some Things Change, Some Stay the Same.” Tenopir is a chancellor's professor at the School of Information Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The session will take place in the auditorium on the first level of the Lee Library.

On Wednesday, a panel discussion at 2 p.m. in the library auditorium will feature Tenopir and William Michener, professor and director of e-Science Initiatives at the University of New Mexico’s University Libraries, focusing on “The Role of Universities and Libraries in Enabling Research Data Management.”

The symposium will close with a Biology department seminar Thursday at 11 a.m. in 247 Thomas L. Martin Building with Michener’s lecture titled, “Empowering the Discovery, Management and Analysis of Biological and Environmental Data.”
