BYU's Larry H. Peer wins international honors for book

Larry H. Peer, a Brigham Young University professor of comparative literature, recently won the International Conference on Romanticism’s 2006 Jean-Pierre Barricelli Prize for the year’s best book in the field of romanticism.

His work, “Romanticism: Comparative Discourses,” co-edited by Diane Long Hoeveler of Marquette University, joins 15 other winners in the history of the award.

Peer received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from BYU and a doctoral degree from the University of Maryland. He has been a member of the BYU faculty since 1975 and has taught at the University of Maryland, University of Georgia and Miami University. He serves as executive director of the International Conference on Romanticism and is a member of the International Comparative Literature Association.

The International Conference on Romanticism was founded in 1991 to promote, maintain and improve teaching, research and related endeavors in the field of Romanticism studies.

BYU’s space ace: Minor planet named in honor of Jani Radebaugh

BYU planetary geology professor Jani Radebaugh’s contributions to planetary science have reached cosmic proportions as she recently received the prestigious honor of having a minor planet named her. The asteroid, previously known as “45690,” now bears the name “45690janiradebaugh” on official NASA/JPL websites.
