The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded Lance Larsen, a Brigham Young University professor and associate chair of the English Department, a $20,000 Literature Fellowship in Poetry for the 2007-2008 scholastic year.
Larsen said the fellowship will give him the opportunity to finish his third collection of poems. He also plans to begin work on a fourth collection during the coming year. The collections will join his earlier compilations, “Erasable Walls” and “In All Their Animal Brilliance: Poems.”
Established in 1965, the National Endowment for the Arts is the largest funding organization for the arts in the United States. The endowment is dedicated to supporting excellence in the arts, bringing art to the people and providing leadership in arts education.
Poetry fellowships are awarded every two years for the encouragement of new work by affording writers time and means to write.
