BYU's Group for Experimental Music plans Jan. 14 concert

Featuring faculty member Christian Asplund and visiting percussionist Greg Campbell

The Brigham Young University School of Music and the Barlow Endowment for Music Composition presents faculty member Christian Asplund and visiting percussionist Greg Campbell with BYU's Group for Experimental Music in concert Friday, Jan. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission is free.

The program includes a structured improvisation by the Group for Experimental Music composed and directed by Campbell, duets composed and performed by Asplund and Campbell and a percussion solo composed and performed by Campbell. The various musical pieces will be announced throughout the program by the performers.

One of the most well-known musicians in the Northwest, Campbell performs a variety of instruments including the drum set, vibraphone and French horn. He has performed and studied with many acclaimed musicians and has been a member of the Seattle Experimental Opera, Brainstun, Ota-Prota and Akoma.

Group for Experimental Music consists of musicians who meet regularly and generate compositions and improvisations through rehearsal and discussion.
