BYU Writing Center now offers three new student services

The BYU Writing Center is now offering three new services: the Research and Writing Center, online appointment scheduling and electronic feedback forms.

The Research and Writing Center is an extension of Writing Center and Lee Library services and is designed to help writers become more effective and confident in research and writing. The RWC provides access to and help from library research assistants and writing tutors at all stages of the research and writing processes.

The center is located at 3322 HBLL and is open Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (closed for forums and devotionals). The RWC is a drop-in service, working with students on a first-come, first-served basis.

While the RWC only takes walk-in appointments, the main BYU Writing Center location (4026 JKB) is offering online appointment scheduling from its website, writingcenter.byu.edu. Writers are encouraged to schedule appointments or check tutor availability, especially during busy times throughout the semester.

As part of the Writing Center’s new online scheduling and reporting system, faculty will be notified of student visits via email. This electronic notification will replace the feedback form sent through campus mail and streamline the way the center communicates with students, faculty, and staff.

Faculty members should encourage their students to make use of these new services and remind them that the BYU Writing Center serves writers across disciplines at any stage of the writing process.

For more information, contact the BYU Writing Center, writingcenter@byu.edu, 801-422-4306.
