BYU Women's Chorus to present concert March 17

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents the Women’s Chorus in concert Wednesday, March 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Tickets at $9 and $3 off with a BYU or student ID are available through the Fine Arts Ticket Office, (801) 378-4322 or at www.byu.edu/hfac.

Under the direction of Vicki McMurray, the Women’s Chorus will perform works by Jacob Handl, Hildegard von Bingen, Knut Nystedt, James Prigmore, Eleanor Daley, Johann Michael Haydn, Gyorgy Orban, William Byrd, Gabriel Faure, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Jerome Kern.

“I chose the Women’s Chorus program because there is a lot of variety of musical styles and historical periods,” McMurray said.

McMurray is sure the 180-member Women’s Chorus will have something for everyone.

“They’re an important choral experience at BYU,” she said.

McMurray will be assisted by Tim Workman, and the concert will feature Julia Ware, Sarah Astle and Melissa Thorne on piano and Holly Little on organ.

For more information about the Women’s Chorus concert, contact Vicki McMurray at (801) 226-6662.
