BYU Wind Symphony concert Oct. 29 to feature symphonic dances

Brigham Young University’s Wind Symphony will be performing a number of symphonic dances including pieces from the hit musical “West Side Story” Friday, Oct. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Tickets are available at the Fine Arts Ticket Office or through byuarts.com.

“We’ll be performing a little Bach and a lot of dance,” said conductor Donald Peterson. “We’ll be performing Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor along with ‘Yiddish Dances’ composed by Adam Gorb. We’re also very excited to present some selections from ‘West Side Story.’”

The Wind Symphony consists of the finest woodwind, brass and percussion players at the university. In recent years the Wind Symphony has performed in the British Isles, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, the Philippines, mainland China, New Zealand, Australia, Finland, the Baltic States and Russia, as well as the Northwest United States and Canada.
