BYU Television now available in American Samoa

American Samoa Cablevision has recently added BYU Television to its expanded basic channel lineup, bringing this unique service to an ever-growing international audience.

American Samoa Cablevision serves the 70,000 residents of American Samoa, 22 percent of whom are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In addition, BYU Television has broad appeal to other residents who have a strong interest in religious and educational programming in general.

BYU Television carries programming from Brigham Young University and the Church of Jesus Christ 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“BYU Television is a programming service that began serving a handful of homes in the United States in January 2000 and now reaches 36 million homes in the U.S. alone,” said John Reim, managing director of Broadcast Services.

“Through home satellite systems, the Internet and now international cable expansion, BYU Television makes it possible for viewers throughout the world to watch live programming such as BYU devotionals, LDS General Conference, special firesides, sporting events and musical performances," he said.

Said Elder Spencer J. Condie, second counselor in the Pacific Islands Area Presidency of the Church, “The members of the Pacific Islands Area Presidency are delighted with the announcement that BYU-TV will be available in American Samoa. We hope this privilege will soon be extended throughout all of the islands of the Pacific.”

A complete listing of cable and home satellite companies offering BYU Television, as well as a complete listing of the station’s programming, is available at www.byutv.org or by calling 1-866-662-9888.
