BYU Symphony Orchestra in free concert March 30

The Brigham Young University Symphony Orchestra will present a free concert Thursday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Conducted by Eric Hansen, the symphony will perform Gliere’s “Russian Sailor’s Dance,” Ponchielli’s “Dance of the Hours” and Brahms’ “Hungarian Dances.”

They will also perform Frederick Delius’ “On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring,” Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite no. 1 and two movements from Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade.”

The symphony is the preparatory orchestra in the School of Music, performing two concerts devoted to symphonic literature each semester.

The 85-member symphony performs concert repertoire from every period, with an emphasis on the classical period.

For more information, contact Eric Hansen at (801) 422-4135.
