BYU Symphonic Band in concert March 31

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents Symphonic Band in concert Wednesday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

The performance is free and the public is welcome to attend.

The concert will feature music by Dana Wilson, Aaron Copland, Boris Kozhevnikov, Percy A. Grainger, Philip Sparke and Gustav Holst.

The 85-member Symphonic Band will be conducted by Don L. Peterson, with guest conductor David Blackinton.

Peterson said a large band like the Symphonic Band facilitates performing a wide range of music.

"The variety of music goes from the minimalist 'Shortcut Home' to the warhorses of the symphonic repertoire like 'The Planets,'" he said. "I think people will find a great variety in the music and the end to a lot of hard work from all those students."

For more information about the Symphonic Band or the performance, contact Don L. Peterson at 422-7275.
