BYU Summer Chorale plans free concert Aug. 5

The 2010 Summer University Chorale will perform Thursday, Aug. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall at Brigham Young University.

The free concert will feature students from BYU singing classical and contemporary works.

They will begin their performance with “The Joyful Piper” by Nicholas McKaig and “O Light of Light” by Mack Wilberg. They will then perform “Beatus et sanctus” and “Sive vigilem” by William Mundy and “Sound the Trumpet” by Henry Purcell. They will finish with “Tantum ergo” by Franz Schubert, “Beautiful City” by Andre J. Thomas and “I Got a Home in-a Dat Rock” by Moses Hogan.

The chorale is directed by Paul Broomhead and accompanied by Colby Hawkins.
