BYU Studies offers cash awards for poetry, essay contests

BYU Studies recently announced criteria and deadlines for its 2007 essay and poetry contests. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three entries in each category.

Both contests are open to Brigham Young University graduates, university employees and regular subscribers to BYU Studies. All entries must be received or postmarked by Jan. 1, 2008. Submission details are available online at byustudies.byu.edu.

Essays should “resonate with” or communicate ideas or experiences about LDS values, concerns or interests. Individuals may submit up to three entries, and none may exceed 3,000 words.

Applicants may submit up to three poems for consideration. Poems should not exceed 35 lines, including lines between stanzas.

BYU Studies, established in 1959, is dedicated to publishing scholarly religious literature in books, dissertations and journals that promote faith, continued learning and increased interest in LDS history.
