BYU students present New York Showcase March 30-31

The Brigham Young University School of Music will present the popular New York Showcase Thursday and Friday, March 30-31, at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. in the Nelke Theatre.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. For tickets, call the Fine Arts Ticket Office at (801) 422-4322 or visit performances.byu.edu.

The showcase, directed by Tim Threlfall, is a senior capstone experience for music/dance/theatre students who are Bachelor of Fine Arts candidates.

The students who perform will travel to New York City to perform the same showcase for a group of agents, producers and casting directors on Broadway during the first week of May.

Each student is showcased in a solo, threaded together with transitional monologues between each Broadway piece. Accompanied by Michael Leavitt on the piano, students will perform pieces from several Broadway productions, including “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” “Anything Goes,” “Cabaret,” “Little Women” and “Kiss Me Kate.”

More than 25 BYU music/dance/theatre graduates have gone on to perform in New York City Broadways, Off-Broadways and National Tours for shows including “Les Miserables,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” “Mamma Mia” and “Cats.”

For more information, contact Tim Threlfall at (801) 422-8133.
