BYU student participates in NYC-based L'Oréal Brandstorm Weekend

Sixty creative student minds from all over the United States joined up at the first-ever L'Oréal Brandstorm NYC Weekend in early November, and a communications student from Brigham Young University was chosen to join them out of a pool of 950 applicants.

Stanton Jones, a junior from Park City, Utah, with an emphasis in advertising, received an all-expense-paid trip to New York City to work with L’Oréal to create an advertising campaign for Redken for Men. Students also attended lectures given by several of L’Oréal’s top executives, and were given the chance to interview for a summer internship.

“At the weekend, everyone was from Ivy League schools,” said Jones. “It was intimidating but it was encouraging at the same time. Lots of those places don’t have marketing programs, so I think we have an advantage because of our marketing/advertising program.”

After returning home, students were invited to create a team with two other students from their school to compete in the international Brandstorm competition. Five of the teams will be selected to compete in the national competition, with only one of those being chosen to compete with teams from all over the world.

The winning team from the United States wins a trip to Paris for the competition.
