BYU Student Alumni Association plans Traditions Ball April 11

The Brigham Young University Student Alumni Association launched a formal dance in the Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni and Visitors Center in 2008, and it was such a success, the student group has planned a second annual Traditions Ball.

Scheduled for Saturday, April 11, from 8 to 11 p.m., the event will include dance instructions, hors de oeuvres, root beer floats, and the famous BYU brownie. The award-winning female a cappella group Noteworthy will entertain. Additionally, a photographer will be on hand to take free pictures of the attendees.

Tickets are $25 per couple and $15 for one and are available at alumni.byu.edu

“Last year event brought dozens of students and alumni together in a commemorative celebration,” says Crystalee Webb, the Student Alumni Association vice president in charge of programs. “This is a nice way to wrap up the semester.”

“We’re calling it a blue tie event,” says Curtis Isaak, program administrator in charge of the Student Alumni Association. “Suits and tuxedos, church dresses and formal gowns are appropriate. Although we’re calling it a 'blue tie' affair, you don’t have to wear blue — but we don’t recommend red.”

Webb sees this as a final prom for the seniors. “This is a way to end your BYU experience in style as you transition to being a member of the BYU Alumni Association," she said.
