BYU Singers, Concert Choir plan performances April 7-8

The Brigham Young University Singers and Concert Choir will share the de Jong stage for the final time this school year Thursday and Friday, April 7 and 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center.

The Concert Choir conducted by Rosalind Hall will perform "Illumina le Tenebre" by Joan Szymko, "Song to the Moon" by Antonin Dvorak and "Summer Suns Are Glowing" by Paul Halley. They will then perform the ambitious Chichester Psalms by Leonard Bernstein.

They will close with "Little Elegy" by Steven Paulus, "If You Were Coming in the Fall" by  Frederick Silver and "There Will Be Stars" from "Constellation" by Frank Ticheli.

Ronald Staheli will then conduct the BYU Singers in a series of hymns, followed by settings of Christopher Marlowe's "The Passionate Shepherd to His Love" and "The Nymph’s Response to the Shepherd" and two folk songs, "Jinny Git Around" and "Dinah."

BYU professors using game-changing strategies to prevent injuries, promote wellbeing in youth athletes

BYU professor Matt Seeley created the Strong Youth Project after watching all five of his children participate in youth sports. While he loves the many invaluable benefits of youth sports, he laments that his children often miss family activities for practice or face pressures to compete in sports during the offseason. These concerns have fueled his collaboration with professors from disciplines across BYU’s campus to improve organized sport experiences for youth, parents and coaches.
