BYU Singers and Concert Choir to perform Nov. 12-13

The BYU Singers and Concert Choir will perform together for their fall concert on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 12-13, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Tickets are $9 and $3 off with a student ID. Tickets are available through the Fine Arts Ticket Office at (801) 378-4322 or at performances.byu.edu.

The BYU Singers, under the direction of Ronald Staheli, will perform several pieces divided into five themes: "Two Songs of Faith," "This World is Not My Home," "Three Shakespeare Sonnets," "O Mistress Mine: a Garland of Elizabethan Poetry" and "Two African-American Spirituals." Staheli will be assisted by Jill Winters, Brent Wells and Timothy Workman.

The Concert Choir will sing several songs divided into four themes: "Two Sanctus Settings for Double Chorus," "A Celebration of Early American Hymns," "Songs of Nativity" and "Folk Songs of the World."

Rosalind Hall will conduct the choir with Carric Smolnik as the assistant conductor.

The pieces that will be sung throughout the concert come from various artists including Johannes Brahms, Claudio Monteverdi, Hugo Distler, Frank Martin, Stephen Paulus, Mack Wilberg and Victor Paranjoti.
