BYU School of Social Work plans activities for Social Work Month

Brigham Young University’s School of Social Work will host a lecture and a benefit concert during March as part of Social Work Month.

• The BYU student branch of the National Association of Social Workers will host a lecture, “The Brain, Pornography and Addiction” by Matthew Hedelius and Todd Freestone, Thursday, March 5, at 11 a.m. in B037 Joseph F. Smith Building. They are directors of the Comprehensive Treatment Clinic in Logan, Utah, where they provide treatment and assessment for addictive and trauma disorders.

• BYU’s School of Social Work will also host a Benefit Concert featuring Benton Paul, Dave Kreitzer and Stephen Nelson Friday, March 13, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Ozz, located at 490 N. Freedom Blvd. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door, and all proceeds go to the Center for Women and Children in Crisis.

BYU’s world-class pipe organ is the ‘crown jewel’ of the new Concert Hall

If you haven’t experienced the pipe organ in the BYU Music Building yet, you’re in for a treat. With 4,613 pipes and 81 ranks (sets of pipes), it’s the third largest organ in Utah and the only one with two consoles. Organists can play from a console located in the center of the pipework facade or from a movable stage console.
